Chess

Sacred Heart school incorporates Chess as an integral part of the school based activities. The school takes part in Inter-school competitions between schools in the broader metropolitan area and players are drawn from the Chess Club, which meets once a week from 3.00-3.45pm. Towards the end of the year, all children are eligible to take part in the Francis D’Souza Tournament, which was established in 1996 to the memory of a former Year 6 students who has passed away. All students are eligible and there is no extra cost involved. There are usually 20-30 students who participate regularly.

Taiko Club

On Monday afternoons after school students have the opportunity to be a part of Taiko Club. Taiko Club is Japanese drumming that offers a unique style of musical expression with the added benefits of physical exercise, rhythmic awareness and team based training. The students are having a wonderful time at taiko club and making some fantastic music to perform very shortly.

Concert for The Arts

A Concert is held each year providing an opportunity for students who participate in the Lumen Christi Instrumental Programme or have entered the Performing Arts Festival to showcase their talents.

Performing Arts Festival

This is an annual festival for Western Australian Catholic School students held over the month of August. It incorporates facets of performing arts including drama, speech, instrumental and vocal solos, bands, choir and dance. Various individual and group performances are entered into the festival every year. Students who study music privately are encouraged to enter and represent the school as soloists. The music teacher coordinates this programme.
