Early Learning Centre

WOW! What a busy start to the year. We have spent a lot of time getting to know eachother, ourselves and our surroundings. The children have been learning important social skills such as including others and taking turns, how to interact with their peers and how to listen to instructions during sessions and discussions throughout the day.

This term the children will participate in a school wide approach to learning protective behaviours. This empowers the children with important information about knowing their bodies and ways to keep it safe.

We sing songs to learn days of the week, numbers, shapes and the alphabet. The focus this term is on sustainability, with recycling and a worm farm being introduced to the children and them learning how they can make a difference in our world.

Our inclusive environment will cover the multicultural aspects of the children in our centre. We will also include raising awareness of equality, even if people look or sound different as past of our programme.

Kindy

We are all new to four year old Kindy. To help us make friends we have been doing lots of team building activities

Some team building activities were done in large groups. Valuable aspects such as team work, cooperation, turn taking and sharing, following directions and inclusiveness are all benefits as children played with the large colourful parachute.

Some team building activities were done in small groups. Social skills and cooperation can be strengthened as children take turns, share, help each other and discuss what they are doing throughout small group experiences.

Pre-Primary

We are settling in very well to Pre-Primary and are having a great time meeting all the teachers that we work with throughout the week.

Year 1

This term the Year 1's are off to discover how to classify animals at the Perth Zoo. We look forward to participating in the Fins, Feathers and Fur program at the Zoo. EduDance has already started and we love the funky moves that we are learning. The concert should be awesome!

We are working hard on our writing and reading skills along with learning about maths in the real world.

In Phys Ed we are learning to run long distances and we are all training hard to participate in cross country.

Year 2

Welcome to Year 2!

What a great start we have had to Year Two. We have kept very busy over Term One and will continue to be just as busy this term!

This term we will be exploring the wonderous and extraordinary subject of space. Later in the term we will visit the Planetartium at Scitech and learn more about our world, constellations and about day and night.

We are also studying History this term and delving into what life was like in earlier years. We will have a special visitor come to our classrooms to show us many historical items. This experience will help us to understand and compare life today with life many years ago.

Finally, we will be looking at Australia and Indegenous Australia. We will be creating our own Indigenous inspired art and looking at a variety of Australian stories, providing us with knoweldge to write our very own Australian story.

We can't wait to get started and share what we learn with our families.
