After School Sports

Sports

Sacred Heart Primary School students are getting active as part of the Australian Sports Commission’s (ASC) Active After-school Communities (AASC) programme.

This programme has been developed to encourage students to increase their physical activity levels and improve skills in a fun, safe and inclusive environment. The AASC programme provides quality and structured physical activity and sport, after school.

Play for Life Approach

Using the Play for Life philosophy, AASC offers a variety of activities to participating students. The Play for Life approach, replaces the traditional and structured drill based approach to teaching Physical Education with a diverse and dynamic games based approach for students to enjoy.

Although the program is open to all students, this programme is designed for the student who may not be getting the recommended daily physical exercise that he or she needs to maintain a healthy lifestyle and as such, we would like to encourage students who are less active and who would not normally be involved in physical activity outside of school time to sign up.

In Term 2, the AASC programme will be offered on Mondays and Wednesdays. The sports available are as follows:

Monday (Yrs 1-3): Floorball

Wednesday (Yrs 4-6): Floorball

There are limited places each term, so students will be selected on a first come, first served basis.
